absolute rubbish it blows around dangerously in the slightest of winds and the internal cord snaps very easily, been a pain for us and the price is outrageous.
We have had 3 umbrellas since they first sold them at Briscoes. They do blow around a bit in the wind but we really like them because we can move the umbrella around to shade out the sun and they are bigger than other umbrellas. We use a stretchy threaded around the pole and the two ribs either side of the pole to keep it more stable in the wind.
This cannot handle wind (the most subtle breeze caused the top to sway back and forth) , even when the base is weighted down the shade part (umbrella) sways side to side causing the whole unit to move. The string snapped in strong wind. I would not recommend.
Great value for money reasonably stable when well weighted down in a reasonably sheltered position.
We have used these in our spa area to put up as protection from sun & rain. Although not robust in strong winds, we don't spa in such conditions anyway; and, ya gotta love this price! We've had two over 7 years and will be getting another one soon.
No matter how much weight you place on the base, one slight gust of wind & over she goes. This can be dangerous if there are kids playing in the vicinity. It must be bolted/screwed to the ground & then have some weights on the base as well. Unfortunately we wanted it for grass area over pool so to stop it blowing over we must keep it at a low height. Only recommend if you are going to permanently screw it to the surface its on & you don't live in windy Christchurch
