How To Decorate Your Table for Christmas

1. Plan Ahead

To save yourself stressing on the day, be sure to get organised well ahead of time. A great idea is to pull out all your Christmas table decorations, napery, candles and more to visualise the foundation of this years tabletop. Have other Christmas decorations throughout the house? Think about the colours you have chosen and consider tying these in to your table. Once you've picked a theme, create a list of extra's that you may need to buy!

2. Layer Your Table

The key to an effective and festive table setting is layering. A plain table cloth and placemat isn't going to be a show stopper, why not add a textured table runner, colourful dinnerware and interesting napkins?

When choosing your layers start from the bottom and move up. Consider the table cloth colour - will this be a colour to set the tone? Then move on to the placemats, consider a neutral colour with a texture. Next to the dinner plates and cutlery and then on to your stemware and serveware. Once the foundation has been set, it's on to the festive decorations.

3. Add Festive Decor

It's time to add some festive flavour to your table! Gather up any unused ornaments, candles and garlands or consider buying some that fit your theme. Sccatter these unevenly throughout the table for a rustic feel. For a uniformed look, try and and make every setting the same. Place one decoration on each napkin, and evenly place the other decorations and candles on each side of the table.

4. Personalise

Add your personal style to the table through floral arrangements, a bold centre piece or a thoughtful touch with cheeky placecards, festive hats, christmas crackers or fun stemware! Encourage laughing around the table with these playful touches and you'll be sure to have a great Christmas.
