Bedroom Linen: 'How to Guide' for Trans-Seasonal Layering

As the nights get a little warmer, it can be a little tricky to know how to dress your bed between seasons. Briscoes have some handy tips to make trans-seasonal dressing of your bed a breeze. Hot tip: Layers during this transitional season are key!

Building Your Trans-Seasonal Bed

Perhaps the most important building block for your trans-seasonal bed would be your sheet set!
Our top tip for sheeting during these months would be to choose a natural fibre, such as pure linen and cotton. Did you know that as Linen is a breathable fabric, it has the ability to help regulate your body temperature, helping to keep you comfortable across the seasons.

Linen is a timeless fabric, which offers an exceptional sleeping experience. With a beautiful drape, and relaxed feel, Linen is a highly durable fabric that will get softer wash after wash.

The 100% Linen duvets and sheet sets available from Royal Albert offer a raw edge fringe detailing on the cuff of the sheet sets and pillowcases, as well as on the edge of the duvet covers. Available in a range of pretty pastel colourways, you can mix n match within the range, or pair the sheet sets with a patterned duvet as we have, for contrast.

Now for the Layers

One of the best tips for layering your bed would be to give yourself options. Start with a lightweight blanket, such as the Urban Loft Cotton Waffle Blanket range. These blankets are available in a handy 220x240cm size and are made from 100% textured Cotton, again a natural breathable fibre.

You could then try styling a duvet cover as a comforter at the bottom of the bed. Styling this way adds a pop of colour and print for interest at the bottom of the bed, which can then be pulled up for added warmth if the nights get chilly.

Choosing a Duvet Inner

Key to choosing a duvet inner during these transitional months would be to look for breathable inner that offers cooling without a lot of added weight, such as a bamboo or microfibre inner.

A lighter weight bamboo inner can be perfect for these in-between months. As bamboo is a natural fibre, it helps to wick moisture away and help you stay cool during the warmer seasons. The Royal Comfort Bamboo Duvet Inner 350gsm is ideal for these transitional seasons, offering a warmth level that is suitable for all year round use.

For the hot sleepers, polyester suits those who clean their duvet inner frequently to keep dust and other allergens at bay. Microfibre and polyester are great alternatives to natural fill without forfeiting the luxurious feel. If looked after properly, polyester and microfibre duvet covers are a fantastic trans-seasonal option.

Briscoes have an extensive array of duvet inners, so be sure to check them out in store or online to ensure you find your best fit.
